Last Minute App Ideas

The Cursing Gourmet Tip of the Day:

Last-minute app ideas!

Do you need a last-minute, hater-friendly app idea for the weekend?

If you’ve been charged with bringing an app to the party, and you’re a HATER, it can be hard to come up with something…

Sure, you can buy a jar of salsa and some chips, but you might want to APPEAR as though you put in slightly more thought and effort.

And bringing a HOT app? That can be tricky. You either need to hope your host has room in his/her oven once you get there, or hope your app will still be hot once you get there if you cook it at home.

So bringing a cold app is ideal.

And are my top five fave cold apps:

Chips & salsa (and/or guac) – And if you don’t wanna make it yourself, at least transfer the salsa from the jar into a bowl, and maybe add a few extra spices.

Spinach & artichoke dip in bread bowl (or with bread cubes on the side) – This one is very easy… Just google “spinach & artichoke dip” and a ton of five-star recipes will pop up.
(Ok, this is not typically a “cold app”, cause most recipes tell you to bake the dip… BUT, it doesn’t have to be piping hot when you arrive, so is therefore more flexible than bacon-wrapped scallops, for instance.)

Cheese/crackers/pepperoni/grapes – Easy peasy. Buy some grapes, a variety pack of crackers, some pepperoni, a few cheese varieties, and just slice up those pepperonis & cheeses, pop ’em on a plate, and you’re done.

My all-time-fave cold app, Prosciutto-wrapped Cantaloupe. Cut up a cantaloupe into 1″ cubes. Cut about a half pound of prosciutto lengthwise. Wrap each piece of prosciutto around each piece of cantaloupe. Done. You don’t even need toothpicks. The prosciutto sticks to itself.

And here’s a SUPER EASY bit of deliciousness I’m stealing from a friend: Honey, Goat Cheese & Blueberry Spread. Check the pic below for the deets ?

Merry Christmas, y’all!!
